I like using Libby. CPU usage, as many others have noted, is egregious. I am a software engineer who has developed many products. I would be ashamed to release this application. I cringe that an effective and convenient interface has such a poorly engineered backend. I don't pretend to know what is wrong, but something is very wrong and this application should never have passed QA.

Took me a while to figure out the problem. Stopped using it and went back to Overdrive and everything is good. Tried again latter and problem repeated. Other than better support for multiple libraries did not see much of an advantage. Hope they don't phase out Overdrive until they fix it.
Nothing but a splash logo after several restarts. Shame because this app is a favorite of mine on android. Luckily, Overdrive still works but it's such a step back. I really hope this isn't dead. I am hoping that someone looks at the reviews for this app and decides to make a change to it. The experience is basically the same on Android, I open the app, a simple setup chat determines library and asks for your card. So far I had no problem borrowing an audiobook, ebook and a magazine.
I didn't encounter any performance issues, it works great with Toronto Public Library, the reading interface is well designed and my reading positions from the Android app were maintained. Were all of these negative reviews even for Libby? Perhaps some major problems were resolved in the last few weeks. Well I am not sure what is going on with other users since I just downloaded this on my Windows computer and sinc'd it up with my IPad.
I also borrowed a book which I was able to send to my Kindle. That's all I need out of it. This app is terrible in comparison with the Overdrive app. You are restricted to devices that support the Libby app or Kindle formats. The Overdrive app allows transfer to any player that supports MP3, but Libby format is proprietary and closed. Use the Overdrive app for Windows Desktop, which is a Win32 application that downloads in MP3 format with ID3 tags; files are completely portable and usable on any device.
If the Overdrive app goes away, there is no reason to use Overdrive content, since there are other closed and restricted formats and applications that have more features and work better.
